Emily is an expert in personal tax and tax litigation. She has in-depth knowledge of the technical aspects of personal income tax, such as housing bonus, tax deductions and professional income. Together with Tisha Dujardin, she provides comprehensive support on “benefits & compensation” issues, both in advice, ruling applications and litigation. She also assists taxpayers with international employment.
Emily discovered errors in “tax state” calculations, leading to incorrect calculations of severance payments, often to the detriment of the taxpayer. This problem also affects families with a partner working abroad, especially when allocating tax credits and tax-free allowances. She offers advice and conducts administrative proceedings to address these issues.
In addition, Emily oversees the administration’s tax boundary investigations, with a focus on pension taxation. She ensures that tax administration remains correct in the calculation of the 80% limit and the application of “back service” in individual pension pledges (IPTs).
She collated all her expertise in tax procedure in a reference work on “the appeal”, an important link within the administrative phase of disputing an assessment. Publication is expected in early 2025.
