Jan is a founding partner of Tuerlinckx Tax Lawyers and developed the law firm into a national network with offices in Antwerp, Limburg and Charleroi. He now has more than 30 years of experience in tax, corporate and finance law matters, both negotiation and litigation, and supervises several major tax disputes and transactions every year.

Jan has authored many articles on taxation. He regularly lectures during study days and seminars on tax law and is a sought-after speaker. His articles and columns appear in newspapers such as De Tijd and Trends weekly. As an expert, Jan is a regular guest on TV programmes such as Kanaal-Z, providing interpretation to the general public on topical tax issues. Jan has his own monthly talk show. During this Tax TV-Show, 4 experts debate pertinent tax topics.

He wrote “WATWITWAS – 50 tax fraud stories” during the covid crisis, intended for the general public, about the tax paradigm shift around the 2000s.

Jan is a critic of the government that has needlessly complicated Belgian taxation. He also monitors the rights of Belgian taxpayers, including in discussions with the tax authorities about the tax administration’s almost unbridled visiting rights in tax disputes, in violation of European regulations.

Jan’s tone is sharp, reasoned and analytical. He always looks for fair solutions for both the taxpayer and the tax authorities, and strives for taxation that is fair, transparent and sustainable.
